Top 5 Tuesday || Sequels I Need to Read

Top 5 Tuesday

I love the topics Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm Blog comes up with for T5T, I always do, but this one?

This one attacked me in my own home. MY OWN HOME, GUYS. Never has my TBR made such an effort to give me the “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed” treatment, and never has it been so successful.

But hey, I’m a good sport, so let’s see the top five sequels I really need to get my butt in gear for!

Legendary by Stephanie Garber

Oops. I read Caraval forever ago, kind of liked it, and I’ve since heard that Legendary is leagues better. Which means I need to get to it. Which means it’s staring at me from my TBR pile with the most judgy eyes. I’M COMING SOON, I PROMISE!

The Romeo Catchers by Alys Arden

First of all, the covers for this series? So pretty. I love taking pictures of them for bookstagram! But also, this series is set in New Orleans with vampires and witches and family stakes, and I really loved reading The Casquette Girls, so I need to get my butt in gear for The Romeo Catchers!

Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson

This one gets to wait a while by virtue of being a terrifying brick that I’m not ready to dig into just yet. I’m excited, don’t get me wrong, but I have to take my time with this series because the books are so stinking huge. I’ll pick you up someday, Oathbringer, I promise. Someday…

Evermore by Sara Holland

Weirdly enough, I didn’t actually like Everless terribly much, BUT it ended in such a way that I want to see how it all pans out. It’s horrible, being so disinterested but also going SEQUEL SEQUEL GIMME THE SEQUEL, which means I need to read it and put that demanding little gremlin in the back of my brain to rest.

Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman

DRAGONS AND SLOW BURN ROMANCE AND COMING WAR AND AAAAHHHHH!

Seraphina was such a great read, and I just haven’t yet gotten my hands on Shadow Scale yet for some reason. I think I might just have to get it from my local library after graduation, and go from there. I’m looking forward to seeing how this duology ends, and I really hope it’s as soft and uplifting as I’m trying to tell myself it’ll be (though tbh, it’s probably gonna be painful and sad before it’s peaceful again)!

The unfortunate truth is that I don’t know how long many of these will be on my TBR. We’ll just have to wait and see (and hope I can pull myself together), and fingers crossed, my brain will look back on this post with all the spirit of (ง’̀-‘́)ง which is very clearly the best way to get things done. OBVIOUSLY.

But which sequels are still waiting on your TBR? And how long have they been there? Go on, let your TBR name names. It’s okay, I promise. We’re probably all guilty of this here anyway! 😂

  1. Oh my god MOOD, there are so many sequels I need to read that I just … haven’t … mostly third books of a trilogy. My poor TBR. Help. Evermore and Legendary are two of them, but I also need to read Bright We Burn, A Conjuring of Light, Wayfarer, A Court of Wings and Ruin, The Wicked King, King’s Cage … and those are the ones I can name off the top of my head and that I own. I’m probably forgetting a TON. They’ve been there for years. YEEEAAAARS.

    • THEY JUST KEEP LURKING AND JUDGINGGGGG. 😭

I can’t speak for most of those, but Wayfarer was a delight to finish, and A Conjuring of Light is literally my favorite book of all time, so if you’re trying to figure out what to tackle next, I definitely recommend those!

      • I’ve been meaning to read ACOL forever, so that’s definitely going to be the one I tackle when I’m not drowning in library books and ARCs. 😭

  2. Oh no. I read Seraphina so many years ago and now I feel bad that I never even realized there was another book out. Well, it’s far too late to correct that because I can’t even remember what it was about anymore.
