We’re all guilty of having a TBR pile we just can’t seem to reach the bottom of. Here’s a few of the books I didn’t manage to read this year, books that are getting bumped up to the front of my list, thanks to Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm Blog deciding that today’s T5T topic would force me to think about what I’ve had to cut from my schedule!
There Will Come a Darkness by Katy Rose Pool
I’ve said it before (probably in a T5T post, tbh), but I really need to get to this book. The heart of the worldbuilding appeals to my classics major soul, the ensemble cast has me itching to get better at writing multiple POV stories, and the October Fierce Reads tour stop completely convinced me this needs to be near the top of my list!
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
Killer mermaids and f/f scientists. Need I really say more? Must I explain myself when I have been targeted so clearly, so specifically?
I think not.
The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
HEIST TIME, BABY! For real, though, it sounds like a bunch of folks on Book Twitter started calling this a Six of Crows copycat, and one part out of spite towards those folks (not every heist is SoC, and SoC isn’t the best thing ever, hate to break it to you), one part my own deep love of a good heist, I’ve GOT to move this up my list.
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalo
While I’ve heard from a couple of folks that this series is perhaps a little over-hyped, deep in my bones, I know I can’t pass up another YA murder mystery series. It’s just my mystery brain taking the wheel here, demanding another chance to trying and solve the mystery before the main characters do. Also? The covers of this whole series are so pretty, so props for that.
Tarnished Are the Stars by Rosiee Thor
I feel like a FRAUD for not getting to Tarnished Are the Stars sooner, but life has done its damnedest to get in my way. But given that Rosiee Thor is an incorrigible pun master on Twitter, and that she’s written both f/f and aro/ace rep into this story, AND that it’s a sci-fi standalone, I’m just ITCHING to get it together and read this puppy!
Entirely unrelated to the book, Rosiee also has a very good dog named Tess, and pictures of Tess never fail to brighten my day.
Have you and I missed any of the same books this year? Or do you recommend I push any of these even higher up the list?
You have to read There will come a darkness Meaghan !!! I’m so in love with it and I can’t wait to see what you think of it 😃😃

Everyone keeps telling me that, so I’ve been steadily bumping it up my list!

Lol, you’re not troubling me! The more people who say things like that about a good book, the more excited I get!

Probably raises expectations too though 😜😜
