Top 5 Tuesday

T5T is back once again, and Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm Blog has honestly managed to get me so excited…because the prompts this month are just the alphabet!

Look, you’re talking to a nerd who jumps at the chance to organize BASICALLY ANYTHING, just for funsies. Alphabetical lists? EXACTLY MY KIND OF THING.

But let’s just start with those first five!

A – The Alchemists of Loom by Elise Kova

The Alchemists of Loom Cover

I haven’t actually read this yet (it’s…been sitting on my Kindle for literal years after I bought it during a sale…), but it has a steampunk setting plus dragons, and I’ve heard here and there that it’s also queer, which means it’s HIGH AT THE TOP OF MY LIST NOW.

Putting it in today’s T5T is also totally me shaming myself for NOT GETTING TO IT YET.

B – Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard

Listen. I read this what feels like ages ago already, and it’s THE BEST INSTALLMENT YET in the Witchlands series. Sooz managed to change my mind on a ship I never imagined I could get behind, plus she finally started connecting some of the major threads, and I’m NOT OVER IT.

I need the next book ASAP, and in the meantime, I’m just going to reread this and beg for canon Viviness in the future.

C – A Conjuring of Light by VE Schwab

A Conjuring of Light Cover

There is no list ever made by my hand that doesn’t contain VE Schwab books (okay, maybe not true, but don’t hold me to it, just let me be excited, okay?). V is basically my author hero, and I still think ACOL delivers one of the most satisfying finales ever. Plus, it has Lila Bard. I can be convinced to like anything, so long as it has Lila Bard.

An easy choice for sure on this one!

D – Diamond City by Francesa Flores

Diamond City won’t be out until January 2020, but the cover reveal just happened the other day, and I’m already so so SO sold on it! Reviews are already saying it’s super fast-paced and gripping, and it follows an assassin named Aina after a job gone wrong, when she has to reexamine everything she knows in order to survive and come out on top. I’ve got my eye on this one for sure.

E – The Empty Grave by Jonathan Stroud

The Empty Grave Cover

It feels like it’s almost time to reread this series, and I still can’t believe how delighted I was with The Empty Grave! It’s a perfect cap on the Lockwood and Co. adventures (although I’m still a little mad Stroud didn’t just outright have Holly say she’s a lesbian, because that’s CLEAR AS FREAKING DAY), and I had such a blast following these kids on their spooky danger escapades through London. 10/10, would read again, just not at night because I’m the biggest chicken on the planet.

Do you have any idea how much self-restraint it takes not to do the entire alphabet in today’s post? I am being so patient right now, you have NO IDEA.

But soon! Soon you’ll get a full set of alphabetical T5T posts from me!

SOON…
