Monthly Wrap || June 2019

Monthly Wrap

It’s that time again! We’re halfway through 2019, and we’re due for another monthly wrap!

Life Beyond the Blog

If you’ve been reading my weekly wraps, you’ll know that things are frustratingly on and off again slow. Some weeks have felt like real progress, and others are just CRAWLING by. That said, some cool stuff has happened!

For one, I got my SUPER MASSIVE BOOKOUTLET SUMMER SALE ORDER, which…was 25 books. So many books. My already judgy TBR is getting judgier by the second and I am both guilty and very, very excited because NEW BOOKS.

And for another, I am actually getting job stuff lined up! Sort of! I have lots of folks to contact for informational interviews, plus some applications to keep filling out, PLUS at least one confirmed interview and maybe? MAYBE? more on the horizon. It’s not to the point where I can say I absolutely have a job yet, but it’s getting there. Which is about all I can ask for right now.

I’m also playing lots of video games in between job applications, and writing up posts about those, and…wow, life beyond the blog is starting to sound a lot like it’s all to do with the blog, huh? Whoops…

But hey, after being so spotty during that last semester of the school year, it feels good to be back and doing what I love on this blog! That’s what counts, right?

Books Read and Reviewed

SO MANY BOOKS. I think my grand total is clocking in at 12 books? Not all of them have been reviewed on the blog already, but plenty of them are coming up! You can check out my reviews of Finale, The Brilliant Death, Soul of the Sword, Children of Blood and Bone, The Boneless Mercies, The Storm Crow, and The Priory of the Orange Tree already, plus Shadow of the Fox from way back last year but if you’re looking for the rest, more will be out over the next couple months! One of Us is Lying, Spin the Dawn, and Wilder Girls are early July reviews, and I’m still trying to decide where to slot The Devouring Gray and House of Salt and Sorrows.

Next Month’s Reads

With any luck, I’m going to fly through my ARC pile, which includes Gravemaidens, The BeastThe Bone HousesCrown of Coral and Pearl, and more! I’d also like to finish my TDM series reread and finally get to The Darkest Legacy after all this time. And I’m supposed to read Grim Lovelies and Sky in the Deep this month. Beyond that (lol, as if I have more time), I’m letting the month take me where it takes me! It’s a mood reading time of year, don’t you think?

My Top Three Posts

You probably know the drill by now, and if you don’t, this section is exactly what it says on the tin: my favorite Words Gremlin posts this month!

1. Not a Book! Thursday || Good Omens

2. The Priory of the Orange Tree Review

Favorites From Around the Blogging World

And here we are, at the good part! This is the section where I like to highlight some of my favorite posts I’ve seen from other bloggers this month, so make sure to go show them all some love!

Isabelle @ Bookwyrm Bites provides a guide to making the most of that monstrous block editor (which I still haven’t used because I fear change lol)!

Ben @ Ace of Bens has made a list of queer books to look forward to in the second half of 2019!

CW @ The Quiet Pond gets what it’s like to be stuck on that review, and shares 63 prompts on how to move forward with it!

Tiffany @ Read by Tiffany shares all her moodboard-making secrets!

Vicky @ Vicky Who Reads has an excellent discussion about what to do when your favorite books are problematic!

And there you have it, a wrap on the halfway point of the year. I hope your June’s been good to you, and I’ll see you around in the coming month! ❤️
