Top 5 Tuesday || Books I Predict Will be 5 Stars

Top 5 Tuesday

Now, I’m not exactly psychic (unless we’re talking about Pokémon news, which I have an uncanny sixth sense for), but I’m going to give today’s T5T topic a whirl anyways! I feel like Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm Blog has totally challenged me with this topic, and if a single one of these doesn’t end up being five stars, I’m going to be so sad.

BUT ONWARD! TO THE FUTURE!

The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling

After hearing Caitlin speak on one of her tour stops, calling it “angsty traumatized lesbians in space,” and getting super positive feedback from two different friends (one’s a horror buff to boot!), I think this one is going to be absolutely aces! That said, it’s also going to scare the living hell out of me, and I’ve accepted my fate. HIT ME WITH IT.

Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

According to reports all over: this is book is gays and dragons. Also heavy enough to maybe knock a man out if you swing it just right. DONE AND DONE, FOLKS.

The Alchemists of Loom by Elise Kova

First of all, look at that blurb. Look again. Yep, Susan Dennard blurbed it, and tbh, I trust her judgment because I adore her books, so this is on the list! Also, I keep putting it off despite buying the ebook forever ago, so I really want it to have been worth it. 🙈

Have heard mixed reports on this one, though: is it queer, or not?

Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant (Seanan McGuire)

This one is supposed to be gay and have mermaids and also SCIENCE, so that’s a no-brainer for me. Sign me up ASAP, thank you very much!

You might be noticing a theme by now, come to think of it…

Magic for Liars by Sarah Gailey

I follow Sarah on Twitter, and their wit is so delightful and irreverent and engaging, and also they have a good dog named Tinkerbell. Judging on that amazing content, and the early buzz about this book, I really, really want it to be a five star read! It’s a fantasy whodunnit and it’s CALLING MY NAME.

Now, if any of these aren’t five stars, I’ll probably cry a little bit, because my hopes are SO HIGH. Which also means don’t tell me if they weren’t five stars for you! We’re going to commit some scientific bias sins today and just totally omit any data that might prove us wrong, okay? Sound good?

Great. But telling me you did call any of these a five star read (or think any of them will be)? That’s acceptable. POSITIVE FUTURES ONLY, FOLKS!
